After years of searching for relief from Bartonella and Babesia, I found Water’s Edge Wellness. My story begins two years ago when I was bitten by a tick. I was experiencing symptoms similar to a heart attack. IGeneX testing confirmed this and I was put on four different antibiotics for a year. At the same time my children were also showing signs of Lyme Disease including anxiety, heart palpitations, an inability to focus mentally, and breathlessness. I learned about Nancy Angelini and have been completely symptom free now that I am three months into my weekly, all natural treatments. My daughters are also on the road to recovery and we owe it all to Water’s Edge Wellness.

The environment at Water’s Edge Wellness is so peaceful, it is like taking a vacation from the stress of everyday life. My shoulder and back muscles were very tight from a previous neck injury and my friend recommended the services of Nancy Angelini to help with my pain. If you are looking for results, I would recommend Nancy Angelini at Water’s Edge Wellness.

It is with great pleasure that I share the sense of blessing I have for being in Nancy’s care…I had been on a downward spiral for years and did not understand the myriad of symptoms that plagued me…Despite my efforts to find answers in the traditional medical community the answers I was provided with were just temporary band-aids. I was right on target with what Nancy had predicted in terms of my turn around time. I still have a short way to go with treatment but have very high expectations for my life ahead. Thank you Nancy for what you do and for the care you have in doing it.

The improvements in my overall health have been very significant to me. What is remarkable is that I have only been your client for a mere 9 weeks. Since adopting your carefully designed and customized protocol I noticed my health started to improve just days into the program. I believe you have a very unique gift and your truly holistic approach to healing the body is magnificent. I haven’t felt this healthy, this vibrant since well before my bout with cancer over 20 years ago.

I met Nancy at a time when I was abandoned and left for dead by traditional western medical practices when my chronic Lyme Disease had been dismissed by every specialty I sought care from. I was so incredibly broken and every system in my body had begun to fail from a decade of missed tick born illness and total body toxicity burden. Nancy’s heartfelt approach and careful consideration of my case has saved my life. After partnering with her for a year I am well on my way to recovery from chronic illness and I owe it all to Nancy’s knowledge, compassion and tireless commitment to my improvement.

I started with Nancy in June of 2019 after having a knee replacement. Nancy helped me get more range and also made my scar look 100% better using cupping, moxa and topical herbal poultices as well as deep massage. I am still with her today as I had guillain barre in 2006. Nancy guided me through nutrition and herbs that played a big part in my recovery. Water’s Edge Wellness also has an HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) machine and I use it as often as I can. It helps me manage my symptoms.
Nancy is so kind, she really wants you to get better. She does not judge your past bad habits. To me, Nancy is brilliant and has an abundance of knowledge. She is very dedicated and passionate about her work. I enjoy going to her office and plan on seeing her for years to come.

Sarah, a 42-year-old marketing professional from Danvers, had spent five years managing what she thought were separate health problems: chronic bloating, unpredictable energy crashes, and a growing list of foods she could no longer eat. Her conventional doctor ordered standard tests, found nothing conclusive, and suggested she simply avoid triggers. She remained searching for real answers about how to heal leaky gut naturally in Danvers, MA and the surrounding North Shore communities of Essex County, Massachusetts.
Like many people struggling with digestive dysfunction, Sarah didn't initially connect her gut issues to her fatigue, brain fog, and recurring skin irritation. The conventional medical model typically addresses each symptom separately. What Sarah needed was a practitioner who could evaluate the root cause: intestinal permeability, commonly called leaky gut, where the gut lining becomes compromised and allows undigested food particles and bacterial toxins to enter the bloodstream.
Leaky gut occurs when tight junctions in the intestinal barrier weaken, increasing intestinal permeability. This can result from chronic inflammation, food sensitivities, dysbiosis (imbalanced gut bacteria), chronic stress, or prolonged use of certain medications. The challenge with conventional medicine is that standard blood work and imaging rarely detect this condition. Many patients receive a diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome or functional dyspepsia, which describes symptoms rather than explaining what's happening at the cellular level.
Sarah's symptoms suggested intestinal permeability, but without proper assessment, she remained trapped in a cycle of symptom management. She eliminated foods based on trial and error, took over-the-counter remedies, and experienced only temporary relief. This approach doesn't address why her gut barrier became compromised in the first place.
When Sarah consulted with Waters Edge Wellness in Boxford, MA, the practitioner took a comprehensive functional medicine approach. Rather than accepting her symptoms as isolated issues, the assessment included detailed evaluation of her dietary patterns, stress levels, medication history, and digestive function. The data suggested multiple contributing factors: a history of antibiotic use, high chronic stress without adequate coping strategies, and regular consumption of processed foods high in seed oils and refined carbohydrates.
Waters Edge Wellness specializes in natural remedies for gut health across Essex County, Massachusetts and surrounding North Shore communities. The approach combines three evidence-based strategies: removing inflammatory triggers, restoring the gut barrier through targeted nutrition, and rebalancing the microbiome. This framework is grounded in functional medicine research showing that intestinal permeability typically requires 30 to 90 days to meaningfully improve when proper protocols are implemented.
Sarah's personalized plan included elimination of inflammatory foods, introduction of gut-healing nutrients like L-glutamine and bone broth collagen, and carefully selected probiotics matched to her specific dysbiosis pattern. Equally important was stress management support and strategic supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids and polyphenol-rich foods to reduce systemic inflammation.
The Waters Edge Wellness approach emphasizes education and empowerment. Sarah wasn't simply handed a protocol; she learned why each intervention mattered and how to recognize her body's response. Monthly follow-ups allowed for assessment and adjustment. Because her stress levels were significant, the practitioner also recommended specific mind-body practices and referred her to resources for sleep optimization, recognizing that inadequate sleep perpetuates leaky gut and impairs healing.
When comparing conventional versus functional approaches to heal leaky gut naturally in Danvers, MA, the analytical difference is clear: conventional medicine waits for disease markers to appear, while functional medicine identifies dysfunction before it becomes pathological disease. Sarah's case exemplifies this distinction.
After 60 days on the protocol, Sarah's bloating resolved. Her energy stabilized throughout the day. Within 90 days, foods she'd eliminated began to cause no reaction when carefully reintroduced. The cognitive benefit surprised her most: improved mental clarity and mood stability emerged as her systemic inflammation decreased and her microbiome rebalanced.
Six months into her wellness journey, Sarah maintained her improvements through maintenance strategies emphasizing whole foods, stress management, and targeted supplementation. She expanded her understanding of how gut health influences overall wellness and became proactive about prevention rather than reactive to symptoms.
Sarah's experience reflects the evidence-based philosophy at Waters Edge Wellness. Healing leaky gut naturally requires understanding individual biochemistry and addressing multiple contributing factors simultaneously. The North Shore communities and Essex County residents working with Waters Edge Wellness discover that natural approaches to gut restoration, when properly designed and monitored, deliver sustainable results that conventional symptom-focused care often cannot achieve.
Leaky gut, or intestinal permeability, occurs when the tight junctions in your intestinal lining weaken, allowing bacteria, toxins, and undigested food particles to pass through into your bloodstream. Common causes include chronic inflammation, food sensitivities, dysbiosis (imbalanced gut bacteria), prolonged stress, certain medications like NSAIDs, and consumption of processed foods high in seed oils and refined carbohydrates. A functional medicine practitioner can assess your specific contributing factors through detailed evaluation.
Most people see meaningful improvement in intestinal permeability within 30 to 90 days when following a comprehensive protocol that removes inflammatory triggers, supports gut barrier repair through targeted nutrition, and rebalances the microbiome. Individual timelines vary based on severity, contributing factors, and consistency with the healing plan. Some notice symptom relief faster, while complete restoration of gut barrier function typically requires sustained effort over several months.
Common inflammatory foods that compromise gut barrier integrity include processed foods, refined carbohydrates and sugar, seed oils, non-organic dairy, conventional grain products containing glyphosate, and foods you personally react to based on your immune response. Rather than following a generic elimination diet, working with a functional medicine practitioner to identify your specific triggers through proper assessment allows you to create a personalized approach suited to your unique biochemistry and healing needs.
While diet modification is foundational, targeted supplementation typically accelerates healing by providing concentrated doses of nutrients your damaged gut barrier needs to repair, such as L-glutamine, collagen peptides, and specific probiotics matched to your dysbiosis pattern. That said, a skilled practitioner can prioritize interventions and determine which supplements offer the most benefit for your individual situation versus recommending unnecessary products. The most effective approach combines whole food nutrition with strategic, evidence-based supplementation.
