After years of searching for relief from Bartonella and Babesia, I found Water’s Edge Wellness. My story begins two years ago when I was bitten by a tick. I was experiencing symptoms similar to a heart attack. IGeneX testing confirmed this and I was put on four different antibiotics for a year. At the same time my children were also showing signs of Lyme Disease including anxiety, heart palpitations, an inability to focus mentally, and breathlessness. I learned about Nancy Angelini and have been completely symptom free now that I am three months into my weekly, all natural treatments. My daughters are also on the road to recovery and we owe it all to Water’s Edge Wellness.

Water’s Edge Wellness has been helpful with not only relieving my pain but also with educating me on prevention and corrective ways to take care of myself from head-to-toe. The environment at Water’s Edge Wellness is so peaceful, it is like taking a vacation from the stress of everyday life. My shoulder and back muscles were very tight from a previous neck injury and my friend recommended the services of Nancy Angelini to help with my pain. If you are looking for results, I would recommend Nancy Angelini at Water’s Edge Wellness.

It is with great pleasure that I share the sense of blessing I have for being in Nancy’s care…I had been on a downward spiral for years and did not understand the myriad of symptoms that plagued me…Despite my efforts to find answers in the traditional medical community the answers I was provided with were just temporary band-aids. I was right on target with what Nancy had predicted in terms of my turn around time. I still have a short way to go with treatment but have very high expectations for my life ahead. Thank you Nancy for what you do and for the care you have in doing it.
~ Ruth
The improvements in my overall health have been very significant to me. What is remarkable is that I have only been your client for a mere 9 weeks. Since adopting your carefully designed and customized protocol I noticed my health started to improve just days into the program. I believe you have a very unique gift and your truly holistic approach to healing the body is magnificent. I haven’t felt this healthy, this vibrant since well before my bout with cancer over 20 years ago.
~ Mario
I met Nancy at a time when I was abandoned and left for dead by traditional western medical practices when my chronic Lyme Disease had been dismissed by every specialty I sought care from. I was so incredibly broken and every system in my body had begun to fail from a decade of missed tick born illness and total body toxicity burden. Nancy’s heartfelt approach and careful consideration of my case has saved my life. After partnering with her for a year I am well on my way to recovery from chronic illness and I owe it all to Nancy’s knowledge, compassion and tireless commitment to my improvement.

I started with Nancy in June of 2019 after having a knee replacement. Nancy helped me get more range and also made my scar look 100% better using cupping, moxa and topical herbal poultices as well as deep massage. I am still with her today as I had guillain barre in 2006. Nancy guided me through nutrition and herbs that played a big part in my recovery. Water’s Edge Wellness also has an HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) machine and I use it as often as I can. It helps me manage my symptoms.
Nancy is so kind, she really wants you to get better. She does not judge your past bad habits. To me, Nancy is brilliant and has an abundance of knowledge. She is very dedicated and passionate about her work. I enjoy going to her office and plan on seeing her for years to come.

Understanding natural approaches to MS in Gloucester MA requires us to first recognize what multiple sclerosis is and how it affects the body's immune system. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune condition where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the protective coating around nerve fibers, disrupting communication between the brain and the rest of the body. While conventional medicine offers disease-modifying therapies, many individuals in the Gloucester and surrounding North Shore communities are seeking complementary natural approaches to MS that address the root causes of inflammation and support overall wellness alongside conventional treatment.
The distinction between managing symptoms and addressing underlying dysfunction is crucial. Natural approaches to MS in Gloucester MA focus on identifying and modifying the factors that contribute to immune dysregulation, such as gut permeability, chronic inflammation, nutritional deficiencies, and hormonal imbalances. At Waters Edge Wellness in nearby Boxford, MA, we understand that people with MS benefit from a comprehensive approach that combines evidence-based natural medicine with personalized assessments tailored to their unique health picture.
When exploring natural approaches to MS, it's important to understand that these are not replacements for conventional medical care, but rather complementary strategies that work alongside prescribed treatments. Let's examine the most evidence-supported natural strategies being used throughout Essex County and the North Shore:
| Approach | Key Focus | Potential Benefits | Considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gut Health Optimization | Intestinal barrier function and microbiome balance | Reduced intestinal permeability may decrease immune activation; improved nutrient absorption | Requires dietary modifications; benefits develop over weeks to months |
| Anti-Inflammatory Nutrition | Whole foods, omega-3s, elimination of trigger foods | May reduce systemic inflammation; supports energy and brain function | Individual food sensitivities vary; requires personalized assessment |
| Stress Management & Sleep | Nervous system regulation through lifestyle practices | Chronic stress reduction supports immune balance; improved sleep aids healing | Requires consistent practice; takes time to establish new patterns |
| Nutrient Optimization | Vitamin D, B vitamins, minerals, omega-3 supplementation | Addresses common deficiencies that worsen immune dysregulation | Requires testing to determine individual needs; quality matters |
| Functional Movement | Gentle, consistent exercise tailored to capacity | Supports neurological function, mood, and fatigue management | Must be adapted to individual limitations; professional guidance recommended |
Each of these approaches works through different mechanisms, but they share a common principle: supporting the body's natural ability to regulate inflammation and maintain optimal nervous system function. The most effective natural approaches to MS incorporate multiple strategies simultaneously, creating a synergistic effect that goes beyond what any single intervention can achieve.
The gut-immune connection is central to understanding autoimmune conditions like MS. Because approximately 70% of immune tissue resides in and around the gastrointestinal tract, optimizing gut health is often the foundational step in any natural wellness strategy for autoimmune management.
The challenge with general information about natural approaches to MS is that what works for one person may not work for another. This is why holistic assessment is so valuable. At Waters Edge Wellness, serving clients throughout Boxford and Essex County communities, we begin with comprehensive functional medicine evaluation to understand your unique health picture.
A personalized assessment typically includes:
From this thorough evaluation, we develop a prioritized plan. Natural approaches to MS work best when they're sequenced strategically. For example, someone with severe intestinal permeability might begin with gut healing protocols before introducing more complex dietary changes. Someone with significant nutrient deficiencies might benefit from targeted supplementation before modifying their entire diet.
The timeline for seeing benefits varies considerably. Some people notice improvements in energy, brain fog, or mood within 2-4 weeks as inflammation begins to decrease. For others, the process takes 8-12 weeks or longer as the body gradually rebalances. This is why patience, consistency, and professional guidance matter tremendously.
Many individuals from Gloucester, Salem, Danvers, and throughout the North Shore find that combining natural approaches to MS with their conventional medical care creates the most comprehensive support system. Your neurologist and our team can work collaboratively, with each approach addressing different aspects of your health.
If you're exploring natural approaches to MS and live in the Gloucester area or surrounding Essex County communities, Waters Edge Wellness offers comprehensive functional medicine consultations designed specifically for autoimmune condition management. We combine evidence-based protocols with personalized care to help you identify and address the root causes underlying your symptoms, not just the symptoms themselves. Reach out to learn how natural approaches to MS can be integrated into your overall wellness strategy.
While natural approaches cannot replace disease-modifying therapies prescribed by your neurologist, emerging research suggests that optimizing nutrition, reducing inflammation, and supporting gut health may help minimize relapse frequency and support overall neurological function. Natural strategies work best as complementary care alongside conventional medical treatment, not as replacements for it.
Results vary significantly based on individual factors, but most people notice changes in energy levels, brain fog, or symptom frequency within 6-12 weeks of consistent implementation. Some improvements like reduced inflammation markers may take longer to manifest. The key is consistency and working with a practitioner who can adjust your approach based on your response.
Common trigger foods include refined grains, seed oils, processed foods, and excessive sugar, as these promote inflammation. However, individual sensitivities vary greatly - some people react to nightshade vegetables, gluten, or dairy while others tolerate them well. Functional medicine assessment can identify your specific triggers through elimination protocols and testing.
Vitamin D plays a critical role in immune regulation, and research indicates that many people with MS have insufficient levels. Supplementation guided by blood testing can be beneficial, but dosing should be individualized based on your current levels and absorption capacity. This is one reason comprehensive nutritional assessment matters.
Yes, chronic stress activates the nervous system in ways that promote immune dysregulation and can trigger MS relapses. Effective stress management practices like meditation, adequate sleep, and social connection help regulate the nervous system and support immune balance. This is why lifestyle factors are as important as nutritional interventions in comprehensive MS management.
