After years of searching for relief from Bartonella and Babesia, I found Water’s Edge Wellness. My story begins two years ago when I was bitten by a tick. I was experiencing symptoms similar to a heart attack. IGeneX testing confirmed this and I was put on four different antibiotics for a year. At the same time my children were also showing signs of Lyme Disease including anxiety, heart palpitations, an inability to focus mentally, and breathlessness. I learned about Nancy Angelini and have been completely symptom free now that I am three months into my weekly, all natural treatments. My daughters are also on the road to recovery and we owe it all to Water’s Edge Wellness.

Water’s Edge Wellness has been helpful with not only relieving my pain but also with educating me on prevention and corrective ways to take care of myself from head-to-toe. The environment at Water’s Edge Wellness is so peaceful, it is like taking a vacation from the stress of everyday life. My shoulder and back muscles were very tight from a previous neck injury and my friend recommended the services of Nancy Angelini to help with my pain. If you are looking for results, I would recommend Nancy Angelini at Water’s Edge Wellness.

It is with great pleasure that I share the sense of blessing I have for being in Nancy’s care…I had been on a downward spiral for years and did not understand the myriad of symptoms that plagued me…Despite my efforts to find answers in the traditional medical community the answers I was provided with were just temporary band-aids. I was right on target with what Nancy had predicted in terms of my turn around time. I still have a short way to go with treatment but have very high expectations for my life ahead. Thank you Nancy for what you do and for the care you have in doing it.

The improvements in my overall health have been very significant to me. What is remarkable is that I have only been your client for a mere 9 weeks. Since adopting your carefully designed and customized protocol I noticed my health started to improve just days into the program. I believe you have a very unique gift and your truly holistic approach to healing the body is magnificent. I haven’t felt this healthy, this vibrant since well before my bout with cancer over 20 years ago.

I met Nancy at a time when I was abandoned and left for dead by traditional western medical practices when my chronic Lyme Disease had been dismissed by every specialty I sought care from. I was so incredibly broken and every system in my body had begun to fail from a decade of missed tick born illness and total body toxicity burden. Nancy’s heartfelt approach and careful consideration of my case has saved my life. After partnering with her for a year I am well on my way to recovery from chronic illness and I owe it all to Nancy’s knowledge, compassion and tireless commitment to my improvement.

I started with Nancy in June of 2019 after having a knee replacement. Nancy helped me get more range and also made my scar look 100% better using cupping, moxa and topical herbal poultices as well as deep massage. I am still with her today as I had guillain barre in 2006. Nancy guided me through nutrition and herbs that played a big part in my recovery. Water’s Edge Wellness also has an HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) machine and I use it as often as I can. It helps me manage my symptoms.
Nancy is so kind, she really wants you to get better. She does not judge your past bad habits. To me, Nancy is brilliant and has an abundance of knowledge. She is very dedicated and passionate about her work. I enjoy going to her office and plan on seeing her for years to come.

With years of experience in managing complex chronic conditions across Essex County, Massachusetts, the practitioners at Waters Edge Wellness have developed a comprehensive, evidence-based framework for supporting patients with Lyme disease and its persistent effects. This case study illustrates how a personalized, root-cause approach to chronic Lyme natural treatment in Burlington MA and surrounding North Shore communities can restore function and quality of life when conventional protocols alone fall short.
Sarah, a 48-year-old professional from Burlington, contracted Lyme disease after a tick exposure approximately two years prior. After completing a standard course of antibiotics prescribed by her primary care physician, she expected her symptoms to resolve. Instead, she continued experiencing debilitating fatigue, joint pain, brain fog, and persistent digestive dysfunction. Her conventional medical workup showed no active infection markers, yet her quality of life remained severely compromised. She was told her symptoms were psychosomatic or that she would simply have to "live with it." Frustrated by the lack of answers and effective support, Sarah began researching chronic Lyme natural treatment options in Burlington MA and discovered Waters Edge Wellness in nearby Boxford.
Sarah's experience reflects a well-documented clinical reality: a subset of Lyme disease patients continue experiencing multi-system symptoms long after antibiotic treatment, a condition sometimes referred to as post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome. Understanding this distinction is crucial because the underlying mechanisms driving persistent symptoms-including immune dysregulation, ongoing inflammatory cascades, and secondary gut dysfunction-require approaches that differ fundamentally from acute infection protocols.
During her initial consultation, Sarah underwent a thorough functional medicine assessment that looked beyond infection status to examine the broader systems affected by her Lyme disease history. This comprehensive evaluation included:
The practitioner explained that chronic Lyme natural treatment in Burlington MA requires addressing what often happens after the initial infection: the body's immune system remains in a heightened, dysregulated state, and the protective gut lining frequently becomes compromised-a condition known as intestinal permeability or "leaky gut." This allows bacterial endotoxins and undigested food particles to trigger ongoing inflammation throughout the body.
Sarah's personalized protocol incorporated evidence-based natural medicine strategies:
This integrative approach distinguishes holistic chronic Lyme natural treatment from conventional symptom management alone. Rather than suppressing individual symptoms, the strategy targets the underlying physiological disruptions that persist after infection resolves.
The Waters Edge Wellness team in Boxford also provided detailed nutritional counseling, teaching Sarah how to identify and manage foods triggering her symptoms, and creating a sustainable eating pattern that supported healing without requiring permanent restriction. Education about sleep optimization, gentle movement, and stress management completed the protocol.
Results emerged gradually but measurably. Within four weeks, Sarah's digestive symptoms improved substantially. By eight weeks, her energy levels had noticeably increased, allowing her to work full days without afternoon crashes. Her joint pain decreased by approximately 60-70%. Most significantly, the brain fog that had prevented her from reading or concentrating lifted, and she regained mental clarity. After four months of consistent protocol adherence, Sarah reported feeling "like myself again"-functionally healthy, with sustained energy and minimal residual symptoms.
Sarah's recovery illustrates a core principle at Waters Edge Wellness: chronic Lyme natural treatment that addresses root causes-immune dysregulation, gut dysfunction, nutritional depletion, and systemic inflammation-can support meaningful healing even in cases where conventional approaches have plateaued. The surrounding North Shore communities, including Essex County, Massachusetts, now have access to this evidence-based, patient-centered approach to complex chronic illness.
Acute Lyme disease occurs in the weeks to months immediately following a tick bite and typically responds well to antibiotic treatment. Chronic Lyme disease, or post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome, refers to persistent multi-system symptoms that continue long after antibiotic therapy, often involving immune dysregulation, inflammation, and secondary conditions like gut dysfunction rather than active infection.
Yes. Once active infection has been cleared (which antibiotics accomplish), the lingering symptoms often stem from immune dysregulation, systemic inflammation, and gut barrier disruption-conditions that respond well to natural medicine approaches focusing on immune balance, anti-inflammatory nutrition, and digestive restoration.
Recovery timelines vary based on symptom severity, duration of illness, and individual physiology. Many patients notice improvements in specific symptoms within 4-8 weeks of beginning a comprehensive protocol, while full restoration of energy and function often requires 3-6 months of consistent application.
Lyme disease frequently damages the intestinal barrier, creating a state of increased intestinal permeability that perpetuates inflammation and prevents immune system rebalancing. Restoring gut barrier integrity through targeted nutrition and dietary changes is often central to resolving persistent Lyme symptoms.
Common triggers include refined carbohydrates, processed foods, certain vegetable oils, and foods to which the individual has specific sensitivities-often identified through elimination diet protocols. A practitioner can help identify your personal triggers and create a sustainable eating pattern that supports healing.
Absolutely. Natural medicine approaches complement conventional medical care and should be coordinated with your healthcare team. Many patients benefit from an integrated approach where natural medicine addresses underlying dysfunction while conventional medicine manages acute or severe symptoms as needed.
