After years of searching for relief from Bartonella and Babesia, I found Water’s Edge Wellness. My story begins two years ago when I was bitten by a tick. I was experiencing symptoms similar to a heart attack. IGeneX testing confirmed this and I was put on four different antibiotics for a year. At the same time my children were also showing signs of Lyme Disease including anxiety, heart palpitations, an inability to focus mentally, and breathlessness. I learned about Nancy Angelini and have been completely symptom free now that I am three months into my weekly, all natural treatments. My daughters are also on the road to recovery and we owe it all to Water’s Edge Wellness.

Water’s Edge Wellness has been helpful with not only relieving my pain but also with educating me on prevention and corrective ways to take care of myself from head-to-toe. The environment at Water’s Edge Wellness is so peaceful, it is like taking a vacation from the stress of everyday life. My shoulder and back muscles were very tight from a previous neck injury and my friend recommended the services of Nancy Angelini to help with my pain. If you are looking for results, I would recommend Nancy Angelini at Water’s Edge Wellness.

It is with great pleasure that I share the sense of blessing I have for being in Nancy’s care…I had been on a downward spiral for years and did not understand the myriad of symptoms that plagued me…Despite my efforts to find answers in the traditional medical community the answers I was provided with were just temporary band-aids. I was right on target with what Nancy had predicted in terms of my turn around time. I still have a short way to go with treatment but have very high expectations for my life ahead. Thank you Nancy for what you do and for the care you have in doing it.

The improvements in my overall health have been very significant to me. What is remarkable is that I have only been your client for a mere 9 weeks. Since adopting your carefully designed and customized protocol I noticed my health started to improve just days into the program. I believe you have a very unique gift and your truly holistic approach to healing the body is magnificent. I haven’t felt this healthy, this vibrant since well before my bout with cancer over 20 years ago.

I met Nancy at a time when I was abandoned and left for dead by traditional western medical practices when my chronic Lyme Disease had been dismissed by every specialty I sought care from. I was so incredibly broken and every system in my body had begun to fail from a decade of missed tick born illness and total body toxicity burden. Nancy’s heartfelt approach and careful consideration of my case has saved my life. After partnering with her for a year I am well on my way to recovery from chronic illness and I owe it all to Nancy’s knowledge, compassion and tireless commitment to my improvement.

I started with Nancy in June of 2019 after having a knee replacement. Nancy helped me get more range and also made my scar look 100% better using cupping, moxa and topical herbal poultices as well as deep massage. I am still with her today as I had guillain barre in 2006. Nancy guided me through nutrition and herbs that played a big part in my recovery. Water’s Edge Wellness also has an HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) machine and I use it as often as I can. It helps me manage my symptoms.
Nancy is so kind, she really wants you to get better. She does not judge your past bad habits. To me, Nancy is brilliant and has an abundance of knowledge. She is very dedicated and passionate about her work. I enjoy going to her office and plan on seeing her for years to come.

With years of experience in holistic health practice, the team at Waters Edge Wellness understands that individuals living with Parkinson's disease often feel overlooked by conventional medicine alone. If you or a loved one is searching for holistic Parkinsons support in Gloucester, MA and surrounding North Shore communities, you've likely discovered that managing this complex neurological condition requires a multifaceted approach. At our Boxford, MA-based practice, we combine evidence-based natural medicine with personalized care to address the root factors that influence symptom severity and quality of life.
A holistic approach to Parkinson's recognizes that neurological health exists within a larger ecosystem of gut function, nutrient absorption, inflammation levels, mitochondrial energy production, and nervous system balance. Rather than focusing exclusively on dopamine replacement therapy, holistic Parkinsons support in Gloucester, MA incorporates nutritional optimization, targeted supplementation, lifestyle modifications, and stress management to support overall neurological resilience. This model acknowledges that many individuals with Parkinson's experience secondary concerns-digestive dysfunction, sleep disruption, mood changes, and nutrient deficiencies-that, when addressed, can meaningfully impact primary symptom expression.
Professionals at watersedgewellness.com work within established functional medicine principles, examining how diet, gut permeability, oxidative stress, and micronutrient status influence neurological function. The evidence increasingly suggests that supporting mitochondrial health, reducing neuroinflammation, and optimizing nutrient absorption creates a physiological foundation that complements conventional treatment.
An emerging and significant body of research connects gut dysfunction to Parkinson's disease progression. The gut microbiome communicates directly with the central nervous system through the gut-brain axis, and dysbiosis-an imbalance in beneficial bacteria-correlates with increased neuroinflammation and motor symptom severity. Additionally, many individuals with Parkinson's experience constipation, which impairs the elimination of neurotoxic compounds and can worsen overall symptom burden.
Nutritional deficiencies are also prevalent in Parkinson's disease for several reasons:
As part of comprehensive holistic Parkinsons support across Essex County, Massachusetts communities including Gloucester, our nutritional counseling addresses these specific challenges. We work to restore healthy gut bacteria populations, eliminate foods that trigger inflammation, and ensure adequate intake of neuroprotective nutrients-particularly antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and B vitamins that support dopamine synthesis and neuronal function.
Natural medicine for Parkinson's operates through several evidence-supported mechanisms. Certain botanical compounds demonstrate anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and neuroprotective properties. Coenzyme Q10 supplementation, for instance, supports mitochondrial energy production-a process often compromised in Parkinson's disease. Mucuna pruriens contains naturally occurring levodopa precursors and is utilized in traditional medicine systems specifically for movement disorders. Curcumin from turmeric exhibits significant neuroinflammatory reduction in clinical research.
However, natural medicine is not a replacement for conventional Parkinson's treatment. Rather, it represents a complementary layer of support. Our practitioners specializing in holistic Parkinsons support Gloucester, MA and surrounding North Shore regions work collaboratively with your neurologist to ensure all interventions are synergistic, non-interfering, and appropriately timed. We evaluate your complete health picture-your specific medication regimen, current symptom profile, digestive capacity, and metabolic status-before recommending any supplement protocol.
Key interventions often include:
At Waters Edge Wellness in Boxford, MA, we recognize that each person's Parkinson's journey is distinct. Our holistic health consultation and assessment process creates a personalized roadmap specific to your needs, values, and health goals. We've worked with individuals across Essex County communities seeking alternatives that honor both evidence-based natural medicine and conventional medical oversight.
If you're exploring holistic Parkinsons support Gloucester, MA or adjacent communities on the North Shore, the foundation begins with understanding that you don't have to navigate this alone. A comprehensive approach addresses not just movement symptoms, but the underlying physiological factors that influence disease progression and quality of life. By optimizing gut health, supporting mitochondrial function, reducing inflammation, and restoring nutrient status, you create conditions where your nervous system can function more optimally within the constraints of your current diagnosis.
No. Holistic support should complement, not replace, prescribed Parkinson's medications. Natural medicine and nutritional optimization work alongside conventional treatment to support overall neurological health and symptom management. Always consult with your neurologist before making any changes to your medication regimen.
Individuals with Parkinson's frequently experience deficiencies in B vitamins (especially B6, B12, and folate), vitamin D, iron, magnesium, and coenzyme Q10. These deficiencies occur due to medication interactions, reduced appetite, swallowing difficulties, and increased nutrient demands from chronic inflammation. Functional testing can identify your specific deficiency patterns to guide targeted supplementation.
The gut microbiome communicates with the brain through the gut-brain axis, influencing neuroinflammation and neurotransmitter synthesis. Dysbiosis and constipation are common in Parkinson's and can worsen motor symptoms. Restoring healthy gut bacteria, improving digestion, and eliminating inflammatory foods creates a physiological foundation that often reduces symptom severity and improves medication effectiveness.
Individual timelines vary based on disease stage, overall health status, medication regimen, and adherence to recommendations. Some individuals notice improvements in energy, sleep quality, or mood within 4-8 weeks of implementing nutritional and lifestyle changes. Motor symptom improvement typically develops more gradually as micronutrient stores replete and gut-brain axis function normalizes.
